Last night after work, I picked up my 2010 calendar for the home-front (think I have a thing for sheep?), along with a new comic book and sewing book. It was a good night.
So this morning I did the annual shift of birthdays, etc. to the new calendar. I always love going back over the prior year’s pages and seeing what I did – things like a Pink Martini concert, a trip to New York, and a lot of rehearsal days. I used to just tear out my favorite pictures and recycle the rest, but now I like to hold on to the calendar as a simple momento of what happened that year.
In other news, I think I’ve officially shifted from a blue-green phase to a purple phase. (I’ll be casting on that dark purple Eco-Wool later today for a Vivian knit-a-long I’m doing with my friend Maggie.) Does anyone else do this? Get obsessed with a color, then move on to another, and so on? My phases usually last for about 5-6 months, then I ban myself from buying the shade for a while and then I’ll usually come back to it again. (My last purple phase was Oct 2007-May 2008) Maybe I can talk myself into a yellow phase next.
In other other news, I got my 400th comment on my last post, from the lovely Jen at Pretty Little Pictures. I always love hearing from my readers, so thanks to you all for brightening my day 400 times!

I’m in a blue phase – wanting to paint my room blue and incorporating loads of blue in my spring summer 2011 color palette. however, i keep trying to sneak dusty shades of purple into it too!

I love the old calendar switch too, but luckily don’t have to choose a new one (I’d never be happy) as my mother-in-law gets me one for Christmas every year… very handy.
Happy New Year!

I do color phases as well, but for some reason, my sewing color and knitting color obsessions are different and don’t mix well. Teal coat and purple hat = I am at this moment casting on a white hat, lest I spend the rest of winter walking the streets of Chicago looking like a fancied-up Joker.

Now that you mention it, my sewing and knitting color phases are nothing alike either, but in my case, I think that has more to do with the far more sizable gap between fabric purchase and sewing creation than there is between yarn purchase and knitting creation. And what does it say about me that I think purple and teal are a great combination?!

It looks like the color purple has gone onto another generation in our family.

Not in quite the same whole-hearted embrace as other family members, but I’m found of it nonetheless.

I’ve been meaning to say, I think I took over your blue-green phase, as that (and grey) are all I’m looking at here in New Zealand. I have to keep going, “no, put it down, diversify,” and then I’ll go and pick up another ball of sea green. Sigh.

What can I say? It’s contagious! If it makes you feel any better, I’m starting to lean towards yellows!
